McLaren in the unknown with Alonso's accident

While McLaren-Honda had a very disappointing qualifying at the Australian GP in Melbourne, the team still seems to be wondering about the origin of the accident of Fernando Alonso at the Barcelona tests (Spain). The thesis of a slight discomfort (see issue 2002 of AUTOhebdo) seems to be the most plausible in view of the elements.

A McLaren-Honda spokesperson admitted BBC Sport that the Woking team still did not know the precise origin of the accident but ruled out that a mechanical failure could have been the cause of the exit from the track. “We are certain that the accident was not caused by a fault in the car… We don't know exactly how this accident happened.."

Fernando Alonso is expected to return to the Malaysian GP on March 29 at Sepang. “ McLaren-Honda continues to discuss and cooperate with the FIA and Fernando's doctors, but it won't be up to us to decide when he gets back behind the wheel... All we can say is that he feels good, he's training hard and he can't wait to get back to competition.", specified the spokesperson for the British team.
