McLaren expected to face penalties

Spa-Francorchamps must mark a new turning point for the racing season McLaren-Honda. The Japanese engine manufacturer has in fact decided to use some of its development tokens to improve the MP4-30's propulsion unit.

Developments which lead to a new change of engine for Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, the seventh as of this Friday, and therefore penalty places on the grid (which remain to be made official).

The Woking team is also expected to use an eighth engine. A multiplication of sanctions which would no longer be transcribed during the race, following changes to the rule on engine penalties. This would also allow McLaren to benefit from two blocks incorporating the developments made by Honda for the rest of the season, without any new penalty.
