Despite several technical problems during winter testing, McLaren believes it is ready to face the first Grand Prix of the year in Australia.

McLaren believes it has resolved Barcelona testing issues

Contrary to what was hoped Fernando Alonso, the winter of McLaren will not have been as clear as hoped. The fault of several technical problems experienced on the MCL33 powered by the Power Unit Renault, which did not allow McLaren to accumulate as many kilometers as desired.

The Woking team also left Barcelona with the lowest total mileage after eight days of driving. The British management, however, remained confident as to the validity of the concept of its car 2018.

As the first Australian free tests loom on the night of Thursday to Friday, Eric Boullier believes that McLaren has found the answer to the questions raised during winter testing.

“We did not have the reliability we hoped for for the winter tests, but any issues we faced have since been resolved at the factory, comments the competition director of McLaren Racing.

Alonso awaits track verdict

Most affected by the technical problems during the Catalan runs, Fernando Alonso nevertheless remains confident in the MCL33 which, according to him, demonstrated real potential. “We have already learned a lot about the car and how all the new elements work together, specifies the Spaniard.
