On the occasion of the Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren The LEGO Group and the Formula 1 team have chosen this iconic setting to celebrate a historic milestone: the British team's 000th Grand Prix. To mark the occasion, the two partners are unveiling two LEGO Editions helmets co-created with the drivers, as well as the actual helmets that will be worn by the drivers. Oscar piastri et Lando Norris this weekend on the Monaco circuit.
The result of close collaboration between the drivers and the LEGO design team, these helmets blend each driver's distinctive colors with the special livery designed for this 1000th Grand Prix. “Seeing our drivers’ helmet designs reimagined through LEGO creativity, and then brought to life on the track in Monaco, is a powerful expression of what we can achieve together.”, underlines Louise McEwen, Marketing Director of McLaren. "It's playful, authentic, and it connects our heritage to new audiences in a way that is both meaningful and relevant."
The helmets also serve as the basis for two new LEGO sets available today, each including a LEGO minifigure of the driver—a first for both. The 793-piece set dedicated to Oscar Piastri features McLaren's iconic papaya and the Australian driver's favorite blue. The Lando Norris set incorporates his iconic "fluorescent blob" design and proudly displays the number 1 reserved for the reigning champion.
According to Daniel Meehan, LEGO creative lead F1The challenge was significant: “Creating such organic shapes on this scale always offers us exciting opportunities to explore new building techniques. Lando and Oscar had some great ideas, which we can’t wait for fans to discover as they build the sets.”
This launch illustrates a decade of partnership between the two brands. “With a partnership spanning more than a decade, we are delighted to bring the power of LEGO creativity to the historic celebration of McLaren’s 1,000th Grand Prix.”, confirms Julia Goldin, Product & Marketing Director of the LEGO Group. "It was a true co-creation process, and we can't wait to see the real helmets worn this weekend by Lando and Oscar."
Both sets are available now on LEGO.com, in LEGO stores and on the official McLaren Racing store.
