McLaren is full of confidence

The 2008 world champion managed to place his new McLaren at the top of the timesheet following the Barcelona tests last week, while encountering no problems during his race simulations. But the Briton is expecting an epic battle this season, as he told the BBC:

“McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, Sauber and Force India are the most competitive teams at the moment. It?s very difficult to know who will be in front, but for the moment the Ferraris seem to me to be the fastest?.

The former protégé of Ron Dennis, very proud of the progress made during these tests, believes that his team has taken a big step forward:

?At the start we weren?t very good, but we managed to improve the car on the last day. I did a race simulation and the balance of the car as well as the times were really interesting. It's good for confidence, but Mercedes and Ferrari were also very competitive during their long runs. »

An opinion shared by his teammate and compatriot Jenson Button who is eager to do battle with his opponents:

“We are going to Bahrain with a package that seems competitive to us, declares the reigning world champion ; but we don't know where we stand compared to Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. Last year I couldn't wait for it to start because I knew we had a car capable of winning the first race. Here I am even more in a hurry because of the quality of the field with the four top teams to which we can add Williams and Sauber and the return of Schumacher ».

After the good results of the off-season tests, the last two world champions will arrive in Bahrain motivated as never before. But we must be careful, the truth of winter tests is rarely that of a Grand Prix.
