McLaren-Honda would like to keep Jenson Button for another season. This is the message that Jonathan Neale, the sporting director of the Woking team, sent to the press during the conference held this Friday, September 25 in the Singapore GP paddock. The future of the 2009 world champion has been the subject of debate since The Telegraph announced it at the start.
“Jenson is a fantastic guy, he’s a world champion who has an important place in the family of Honda and McLaren. He's been with us for six seasons and we want him to stay because we really like him. But if a driver doesn't really want to stay, we have to respect that. I hope we have done enough to continue the discussions.”, said Jonathan Neale.
Jenson Button remained vague on questions concerning his future but suggested that other options were available to him.
