McLaren-Honda presents its MP4-30

It was one of the most anticipated single-seaters of this offseason. McLaren finally presented its latest addition, called MP4-30 this Thursday. It's the first car from Woking to receive a Honda engine block since 1992, the famous Japanese turbo/hybrid V6 RA615H. She sports a delivered predominantly silver with the return of red, to mark the return of Honda. The main modifications concern the redesigned nose, and a thinner rear part, reworked in particular around the gearbox.

“While our alliance was renewed several months ago, the launch of the McLaren-Honda MP4-30 marks the start of a long journey,
says Ron Dennis, president of McLaren. We have come a long way already and, although there is a lot of work to be done before we can return to the level of success of 25 years ago, it is already clear that there are great synergies and potential in our partnership, and I am sure that together we will get to where we want to be: winning Grands Prix and eventually championships as McLaren-Honda. »

“Today is obviously a very exciting day for me and for Honda,
continues Yasuhisa Arai, Head of Motorsport at Honda. As you can see with the new MP4-30, we have come together as one with McLaren to create a new car that makes no compromises on either power or aerodynamics. We are about to start a long season, with many challenges, but Honda is determined to face them. After all, we are here to advance technology by Formula 1 and delight our fans. »

The MP4-30 will take to the track this Sunday in Jerez in Spain for the first winter tests. It is Fernando Alonso which will make the single-seater debut on the Andalusian circuit.
