McLaren could use its new nose in racing at Sochi

Andreas Seidl revealed this Friday that McLaren could use the experimental snout introduced at Mugello during the Russian Grand Prix this Sunday.

In Tuscany, it is Carlos Sainz who had released the new piece. Finer, it is closer to the concept seen in Mercedes et Renault and aims to operate optimally “the cape” located under the nose of the MCL35 and which helps to best direct the air flow towards the side deflectors.

« We will continue to test our experimental muzzle by mounting it on the car by Lando (Norris), Seidl said during a press briefing Friday morning. We will test and compare the results with our first observations.

We need to collect more data before deciding on its future use. When you introduce a new development, you always hope that it meets expectations and that the results agree with those recorded in the wind tunnel. We proceed step by step and we will tell you Saturday morning if the redesigned nose is preserved ».

If he remained evasive on the expected gains, F1 Obviously, the main German team declared that the component had given satisfaction during its debut on the track at Mugello. The nose seen in Tuscany, however, was only a version still in development. The more advanced model installed in Russia also includes an updated front wing.
