McLaren enjoys its best result of the season

Since 2015, the Hungaroring has been the scene of the best races in McLaren- Honda, the format of the Hungarian track does not depend on the power of the car's engine. Thus, McLaren recorded its best result of the season with the 6^e place of Fernando Alonso, accompanied by an unexpected best lap in the race for the Spaniard.

« We were no longer aiming for 7^e or 8^e place today, explains Fernando Alonso, but with the abandonment of RicciardoThe 6^e place became possible and we acquired it. We worked all weekend for this result: no mistakes, good free practice, solid qualifying and a perfectly executed race."

Stoffel vandoorne also had his best weekend of the season. Although he sees the finish more often than his teammate, he had not yet scored points until then. The GP2 champion was even able to put pressure on Esteban Ocon for 9^e instead.

« It was a pretty positive weekend for me, adds the Belgian, we arrived hoping to be competitive and we were able to stay in the top 10 all weekend.

« My race pace was encouraging, we were definitely faster than the Force India but it is difficult to overtake. Finally, we collected points on a good weekend for the team."

With these 9 points acquired against nothing for Sauber, McLaren is no longer bottom of the constructor's championship with 6 points ahead of the Swiss manufacturer and 15 behind Renault.
