McLaren signed the Concorde Agreement

One of the off-track soap operas of the Formula 1 would it come to an end? Tuesday, McLaren announced that it had officially signed the Concorde Agreement, which should define what F1 will be over the period 2021 to 2025.

Concerning the British team, nothing surprising. She was one of the first to declare her intention to ratify the agreements a few weeks ago. But the announcement of the official signing implies that the blockages are lifted.

Or rather, the blockage. The almost unanimity of the teams quickly indicated their desire to race with the FIA. All that remained Mercedes to convince. The German team, ultra-dominant in recent years, refused to sign, until managing to push back the deadline of August 18.

More Toto wolff, the boss of Mercedes, seemed to have capitulated last week. “ I don't believe that the teams will ever evolve on the same wavelength. Everyone tries to do their own thing apart. There is a culture of blame in the media so we made the decision to move forward on our own with Liberty” he declared.

“I had very constructive discussions with Chase Carey (CEO of the Formula One Group, editor's note) and most of the points we wanted to discuss were raised.I feel we are well placed to sign the Concorde Agreement and move on.”

With the officialization of McLaren, the feeling is confirmed. The teams are taking action, on the occasion of the new deadline set for this Tuesday.
