McLaren to its advantage in the Principality?

Ron Dennis recently mentioned this: according to him, McLaren will be the next world champion after Mercedes. If the chassis of the MP4-31 seems up to standard, the Honda unit still remains below the best V6 turbo/hybrid Power Units like Mercedes ou Ferrari.

A performance deficit that the nature of the Monaco circuit should level this weekend for the sixth meeting of the World Championship. F1. According to Eric Boullier, competition director of Mclaren racing, the Monaco track should be suitable for single-seaters driven by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.

« Monaco is a track that, on paper, should suit our package more than other circuits, specifies the Frenchman. But one of its characteristics is its unpredictability. Weather conditions change often, accidents are common, and tend to have greater than usual effects on the race, and of course overtaking is often difficult. »

For Fernando Alonso, winner in Monaco in 2006 and 2007, the performances seen in Barcelona are encouraging in view of this weekend's round. The Spaniard intends to bounce back after a cruel abandonment on his land.

“Getting into Q3 in Barcelona for the first time since the return of the McLaren-Honda partnership is a real boost for the team, so our aim, of course, will be to replicate this to give us the best possible chance in Monaco, underlines the former Ferrari driver.

This is a very demanding event, so reliability and strategy will be key to maximizing the potential of our package on this circuit. After a disappointing result in Spain, I am happy to see that the work accomplished on the tests (organized in the wake of the Spanish Grand Prix, Editor's note) was encouraging, so I hope that this will translate into a positive performance this weekend. »

McLaren has not won in the Principality since 2008 and the success of Lewis Hamilton.
