McLaren will reunite with Gulf

Certaines livrées demeurent mythiques en sport auto. Martini et Lancia, Rothmans et Porsche … Les exemples ne manquent pas. Mais quand une association historique refait son apparition, les souvenirs se bousculent.

The relaunch confirmed this Tuesday morning of the association between McLaren and Gulf thus very quickly evokes the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s in F1 or in Can-Am, but also endurance and 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the McLaren F1 GTR badged in the colors of the tanker.

From 2021, McLaren and Gulf will therefore be brought together again, with Gulf becoming the preferred partner for lubricants for the Woking firm's road models. Before that, it is in F1 that the association will be renewed, starting this weekend at the British Grand Prix.

The Gulf logo will thus be affixed to the staff equipment of the team managed by Zak Brown, as well as to the MCL35 (engine hood in particular).

“We are delighted to welcome Gulf back to McLaren and bring together two iconic brands in a new and exciting partnership, comments Zak Brown.

Gulf is part of McLaren's history and is renowned for its innovation and industrial technical excellence, which aligns perfectly with McLaren's vision. »

McLaren has had an excellent start to the F1 season, ranking third in the Manufacturers' standings. CARhebdo dedicates a special report on the recovery of the Woking stable, to read in our n°2271, already available in digital version, and on newsstands tomorrow.
