McLaren ensures its reliability

Jonathan Neal, general manager of the team McLaren, returned to this subject: “Obviously, we are focused on the manufacturer's championship, and we will make further performance improvements on this circuit (Austin, Editor’s note). We are not taking a cautious approach, but I would say we are going to be very vigilant. »

The abandonment of Lewis Hamilton during the last Abu Dhabi Grand Prix showed that reliability was indeed one of the McLaren's weaknesses, despite its speed. The Englishman had to withdraw from the Singapore race under similar conditions. It was not the first time that the British car had messed up: in Japan, Jenson Button was penalized five places on the grid for changing his gearbox.

Ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Lewis Hamilton announced his ambitions: “I definitely intend to be the first winner of the United States Grand Prix on this circuit. » An ambition which seems achievable, given the performance of his car, but it remains to be seen whether it will take him to the finish. McLaren?s objective, second place in the constructors' championship, depends on it.
