Mercedes takes the blow against Renault

Mercedes AMG F1 is in a delicate situation after the Japanese Grand Prix where Renault monopolized the podium with the Red Bull and the Lotus of Romain Grosjean. The star manufacturer saw the Team Ferrari took second place in the Constructors' Championship with ten points ahead, while Lotus F1 Team moved back to 23 points from third position. “Red Bull has made huge progress since Singapore. We need to analyze what they have achieved”, commented Toto wolff in Auto Motor und Sport.

The executive director of the German team is considering the hypothesis that the Renault V8 has become more efficient than the Mercedes unit. “If that's the case, we need to find out where we missed it. We think we've figured out what they're doing. The only question is whether we have the resources to implement them in the last four races (before the transition to the 6l T/H V1.6 in 2014). We may need to reallocate some resources. »
