Mercedes confirms the arrival of James Allison

Following the departure of Paddy Lowe towards Williams, James Allison was tipped to become the new technical director of Mercedes F1. The reigning world champion team has confirmed the arrival of the British engineer who held the same position within the Team Ferrari until last July when he was replaced by Mattia Binotto.

“I am eager to return to work after being away from the discipline, commented James Allison. It is a great privilege to receive the confidence of a team that has achieved fantastic things over the last three years. I look forward to playing my part in helping Mercedes remain competitive in the coming seasons. »

“I am delighted to welcome James to Mercedes and really look forward to working with him, added Toto wolff, the executive chairman of Mercedes Motorsport. Our technical team is very competent in every area and is at its best after winning three consecutive titles. It wasn't easy to find the right person who could strengthen our group of experienced engineers, with the talent of the younger members. »
