Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team have just announced the launch of Ignite, a charity aimed at making motorsport more diverse and inclusive.

Mercedes and Hamilton launch charity to improve diversity

For several years, Lewis Hamilton is fighting to introduce more diversity into motorsport. T-shirt, slogan, the seven-time world champion continues to use his superstar image to improve his sport. Latest example, the creation of the Hamilton Commission, a project aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of minorities in motorsport, a report for which was published a few weeks ago.
This Tuesday, Mercedes and Mission 44, Lewis Hamilton's personal foundation, have announced the launch of a charity called Ignite. Its goal: to ensure better diversity in the world of motorsport

“Mercedes supports my ambitions to improve diversity and inclusion in the motorsport industry, explains Lewis Hamilton. I am confident that with Ignite we will have the opportunity to improve things. For 15 years, I have been one of the only men of color in Formula 1, and I am proud that my work with Mercedes can change things for the better.”

Mercedes for its part continues to follow the ideologies of its star driver. “I'm happy that we can finally make Ignite official, admits Toto wolff. We hope that with this project we “We will see more minority talent in the motorsport industry.”
