It is a partnership that has entered the history of the Formula 1. The alliance between Mercedes and Petronas, active since the return of the Silver Arrows to the category in 2010, will extend beyond the 2026 season, the German team announced on Wednesday. A multi-year contract has been signed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the iconic Petronas Towers. The manufacturer and the oil company have together built a gargantuan track record over the past ten years. In the space of nearly 13 seasons, the two entities have won 8 constructors' world championships, 7 drivers' titles and 115 Grand Prix victories.

Petronas will therefore continue the adventure for the new engine regulations, planned for 2026, where the fuel will be entirely synthetic and sustainable. The Malaysian firm would like to get involved “towards a more sustainable future with the determination to excel in the exciting technical challenge of the 2026 power unit regulations.”
Mercedes and Petronas are no longer just partners, they are a family”
On the Mercedes side, we welcome this contract extension which allows a certain stability in view of the next engine regulations. “Today we are doing something a little unusual – we are announcing a partnership that will begin in four years. This sends an important message that our team and Petronas are no longer just partners, we are family, and we will be one team for many years to come, said Toto wolff, director of the German team.
“From 2026, sustainable fuel will be at the heart of F1 performance, specified the Austrian boss. This gives us a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in this area. We are excited to race into the future alongside Petronas, with the ambition to once again set the standard, in our performance on the track and leading the way in the transition from a global sports team to a zero carbon future. »
Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and CEO of the Petronas Group, welcomed this renewal of the partnership with the Silver Arrows: “What you are witnessing today demonstrates the belief shared by Petronas and the Mercedes team: the synergy and shared ambition of both parties will responsibly provide sports and our customers with cleaner, more sustainable energy . Given the experience accumulated as a team over the past decade, and the technical capabilities and expertise derived from our combined talents, Petronas looks forward to writing the next chapter with a focus on sustainable fuel for Mercedes and its customer teams. »
