Mercedes eager to return to Silverstone

Although the stable Mercedes carries the German flag, Silverstone is hosting its home event this year in the absence of Hockenheim on the calendar. Indeed, the Brackley factory is only a dozen kilometers from the circuit, making it the closest team to Silverstone after Force India.

“The British Grand Prix is ​​one of the highlights of the racing season. Formula 1, Explain Toto wolff, Mercedes Team Principal. It's the combination of the history of the circuit, the knowledge and culture of the fans, the unpredictable weather and, of course, the unique feeling of racing just a few kilometers from our facilities. »

Mercedes intends to continue the good momentum created by the victory of Valtteri Bottas in Austria, and also wishes to benefit from the emulation around Lewis Hamilton for his home Grand Prix.

“Silverstone is a circuit that we hope will suit our car. It's a very different challenge to the other tracks we've been to recently, with its fast corners that emphasize the car's aero efficiency.

“It will be great to see the 2017 cars defy the laws of physics in these fast corners and we all look forward to seeing that. »

Mercedes has won the last four editions of the British Grand Prix thanks to Nico Rosberg in 2013 and Lewis Hamilton the following three years.
