Mercedes lifts the veil on the new colors of the W11 with Ineos

No doubt inspired by the rascals of Haas, who revealed the design of the 2020 single-seater two weeks before the official date, Mercedes held a press conference this Monday February 10 at the Royal Automobile Club in London to announce the colors for the upcoming season in Formula 1.

Unsurprisingly, the silver dress remains appropriate for the two W11s that the six-time world champion will share Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas. The novelty is located on the air box and the edges of the front wing, with the arrival of the color Bordeaux Dear to Ineos, new major sponsor of Mercedes for five years.

This name may not resonate with motorsport fans, but cycling and football fans are familiar with this company specializing in chemicals. Indeed, its CEO Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought the Team Sky team in 2019, and has in its ranks Egan Bernal, Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome, winner of all editions of the Tour de France since 2013 with one exception close.

Ineos is also in charge of the OGC Nice football team, playing in Ligue 1. This is not the first time that Ineos has ventured into the automotive sector. Ford sponsors the Ineos cycling team through special liveries of Mustang, Focus RS or Raptor on the sidelines of the races.

The duration of the partnership is likely to reduce rumors concerning a possible departure from Mercedes at the end of the 2020 F1 season, as implied Toto wolff :
