We thought that Silverstone would be the justice of the peace, the moment when we would know what we could really expect from Mercedes this season. But while the circus of Formula 1 left Britain to take up residence in the Styrian forest, the questions surrounding the concept and the true level of performance of Mercedes remain intact, if not even more important. At Silverstone, the brand with the star experienced the kind of race that leaves you wanting more. So much so that internally, we didn't really know how to welcome this third podium of the season for Lewis Hamilton, the second in row. “It’s complicated for the team to know what to think after such a race, admitted Andrew Shovlin, director of track engineering. On the one hand, it's frustrating to only finish with a 3rd place, knowing that with two cars and a little more luck, we could have fought for victory and a lot of points.
