Mercedes: Rosberg made official

Nico Rosberg, after Williams, will therefore roll with Mercedes GP. The German pilot, son of Keke Rosberg, world champion of Formula 1 in 1982, joined the Brackley team at the age of 24, bought from Ross Brawn by Mercedes. The Germanic dream team that Norbert Haug wants to build is therefore taking shape, while the boss of Mercedes Motorsport has announced that he plans to “surprise” the public with his duo of drivers.

Nico Rosberg within the Ross Brawn team, the announcement was expected and it is therefore not the surprise which predominates, since the German driver had been anticipated for several months as the first choice of the team, by a common desire . The son of Keke Rosberg, after four years at Williams, wanted to evolve and join a more ambitious team. As for the Brackley team, while the merger with Mercedes was taking place, they wanted a talented driver and, preferably, German.

If Nico Rosberg were to team up with 2009 world champion Jenson Button, Mercedes GP was taken by surprise by the Briton's decision to join McLaren. Rosberg is therefore officially announced, but the name of his teammate remains unknown for the moment. Several drivers were cited, and Nick Heidfeld seemed to hold the rope. But Adrian Sutil and above all Michael Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen have also been announced as possible drivers of the future car of Mercedes GP.

Mercedes GP has therefore formalized the arrival of Nico Rosberg, a transfer which seemed obvious for several weeks, but has yet to announce the name of the second driver, undoubtedly the most anticipated. On Sunday, Norbert Haug, boss of Mercedes Motorsport, told the Bild newspaper that the choice of the team should satisfy the daily's German readers.
