Mercedes welcomes summons to FIA international tribunal

The summons came late Wednesday evening. Mercedes will have to appear before the FIA international tribunal to explain the private tests she carried out with Pirelli between the Spanish Grand Prix and that of Monaco. Tests which, if visibly legal, were carried out on the 2013 car, the W04. Which is contrary to sporting regulations.

As such, the German team reacted on Thursday by displaying its serenity. “Mercedez-Benz takes note of the FIA’s decision to take the subject of Pirelli testing to the international court”, explains the team in a press release. “We welcome the opportunity to explain what happened during these tests in an open and transparent manner. Sporting integrity is of paramount importance to Mercedez-Benz and we have full confidence in the FIA process?.

At this time, no date has yet been communicated. In the event of a proven violation, Mercedes would risk a fine of several million euros and the withdrawal of several or even all of the points acquired this season. To be continued.
