Miami postpones city council meeting for F1 arrival

The prospect of a Formula 1 Grand Prix in the streets of Miami (Florida) Is she moving away? According to the local newspaper The miami herald, a meeting of the municipal council, scheduled for July 26, was postponed due to opposition protests.

The information was confirmed on Wednesday by the mayor of the American city, Francis Suarez. Discussions are postponed until after the August meeting, in order to gather more support from residents.

Residents of Miami are reportedly worried about thea road closure for the preparation of the urban circuit, noise pollution and traffic concerns. A petition was even launched by the Better Florida Alliance collective entitled “No to F1 blocking the streets of Miami.”

Miami had however organized a round of Formula e at the start of 2015, won by Frenchman Nicolas Cheers on e.Dams Renault.
