The city of Miami definitely seems ready to welcome the F1. The next municipal council to be held on Thursday, May 10 will vote to decide whether to begin negotiations with Liberty Media.
Miami would be ready to join the F1 calendar next year with a Grand Prix which would take place in October. The agreement would cover several years.
“The Miami City Council has taken an important step in adding this vote to its agenda. If approved, the path seems clear for Miami to host F1 next season. We appreciate the interest and look forward to working with local organizers and shareholders to create this project,” commented Sean Bratches, F1's director of commercial operations.
“Miami is a global city and F1 is also a globally recognized brand, added Stephen Ross, an American entrepreneur investing in this Grand Prix project. With the cooperation of the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County, I am confident that we will be able to deliver an event that will be a destination for everyone and a source of revenue for South Florida. »
Miami has already hosted an ePrix of Formula e in 2015. However, some residents do not view the holding of a Grand Prix in the heart of the city favorably and are already organizing petitions.
