Miami favorable to a Grand Prix

The Miami City Council which met this Thursday, May 10 was expected since the subject of the arrival of the F1 in the Florida city was on the program of debates. The elected officials voted unanimously in favor of setting up a Grand Prix.

“With the unanimous votes of the City of Miami and the Miami-Dade County Committee, we are very pleased to receive initial approval to host an F1 Grand Prix in Miami, comments Sean Bratches, the sport's director of commercial operations. We are aware that this is only the beginning of the process and we will immediately get to work with the various shareholders, the City of Miami, the Port of Miami, Bayfront Park (the potential locations of the route) in order to obtain a final agreement. »

Liberty Media hopes to organize the Miami GP in 2019. The new owners want to put more races in the USA and on the discipline's calendar. The project for a Grand Prix in New York was well advanced since work had begun, but the race never saw the light of day. However, this test had been considered when F1 was still led by Bernie Ecclestone and CVC.
