Max Verstappen records his third victory of the 2022 season in Miami and continues to get closer to Charles Leclerc (2nd) in the championship. Carlos Sainz Jr completes the podium.

The pre-Grand Prix festivities in Miami (Florida) Formula 1 this Sunday, May 8 were almost as numerous as the actions on track in this event. The identity of the winner was in fact decided at the start of the ninth round.

Thanks to a better rhythm, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) overtook the pole sitter Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) in an unstoppable maneuver. The Dutchman then maintained control of the race and signed his third victory in 2022, his second in a row after Imola (Italy) two weeks ago.

In the general classification, the wearer of number 1 earns 26 points because he achieves the best time in the race. The gap is now only 19 points to the advantage of the leader Scuderia Ferrari, who finishes second.

This fifth round of the 2022 season was slowly heading towards a nap until Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) and Lando Norris (McLaren) collide. The Englishman's right rear wheel wandered on the track, out of the car, which is not the usual procedure.

The Safety Car was deployed to clear the McLaren, allowing two men to stop in the pits without losing any time. With new medium rubbers, George Russell (Mercedes) overtook his colleague Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) on relaunch.

Long 5th,Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) slipped off the line at the final turn, causing him to lose two positions. THE Alpine form a group shot in eighth and ninth place, even if Fernando Alonso received a 5-second penalty for a collision with Pierre Gasly before the Frenchman retired.
