Mick Schumacher will be a man in a hurry in Bahrain. The 20-year-old German, who will make his debut in Formula 2 the weekend of March 29 to 31 with Prema, will also participate in two days of testing on the Sakhir circuit with Formula 1 next week.

The son of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher will be installed in the cockpit of the Ferrari SF90 on Tuesday April 2, before switching to the Alfa Romeo C38 on Wednesday April 3.

“I am obviously more than enthusiastic and I would like to thank Ferrari for this opportunity, Explain the outgoing Formula 3 Europe champion. I'm looking forward to what is sure to be a great experience. But, for the moment, I put aside all these thoughts, because I am also waiting to complete my first race of F2. I would like to concentrate 100% on the weekend ahead. »

Mattia Binotto, Team Principal of the Scuderia, also explains that Callum Ilott will be entitled to his test day in the Alfa Romeo, this time in Barcelona (Spain) after the Spanish Grand Prix in May. « Mick, who joined the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) in January 2019, and Callum with us since 2017, are undoubtedly drivers in progress. I think driving the SF90 in an official setting in Bahrain and then Barcelona will benefit them at this stage of their career.

We strongly believe in the value of the FDA as a high-level training program for talented young people. The decision to give a seat to Charles Leclerc is proof of this. »

This will be the first time that Mick Schumacher will drive in Formula 1 testing. In 2017, he was requisitioned to take a victory lap of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit with the 194 Benetton B1994, taken by her father to her first F1 victory.
