Closing clap between Mercedes et Mick Schumacher. The German driver, holder of the World ChampionshipEndurance with Alpine, also played the role of reserve with the star team in Formula 1 since 2023.
« Mick's hard work, diligence and determination in his role as reserve driver has been vital to the team over the last two years, expressed Toto wolff. Whether it was his work in the simulator, testing different cars or being part of the team on the ground, we couldn’t ask for more from him. From day one, he integrated into the team with ease and became an incredibly valued colleague to everyone in Brackley and Brixworth. »
« However, Mick is first and foremost a racing driver, adds the Austrian. We were able to see this both during his time in F1, and this year with his performances in the World Endurance Championship, that he is a top driver and deserves to compete in the best championships. As he prepares to take on his next challenge, I would like to thank Mick personally for his contribution to our team and we all wish him the best in his future endeavours. »
« I am grateful to Toto and the entire Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team for the knowledge I have gained over these two years, says Mick Schumacher. They have definitely made me a more experienced racing driver because I have learned about the engineering, but it is difficult to watch these cars race without sitting in the cockpit. I want to get back to focusing 100% on racing and being fully focused on the sporting side of motorsport. Ultimately, it is the racing that you want to do as a driver, it is the racing that gives you that feeling that you love. »
