Score the first points of his career in Formula 1 is always a great moment for a pilot. At the Miami Grand Prix, Mick Schumacher he had his first top 10. Starting 15th on the grid, the German had managed to catch up and with 4 laps to go at the Miami International Autodrome, he was in 9th place ahead of theAlpine byEsteban Ocon. Too busy with his duel with the Frenchman in the 3rd sector, Sebastian Vettel takes advantage of this and overtakes the two drivers.

With his mentor ahead of him, no one expects Mick Schumacher to attempt a daring maneuver at the next corner to try to regain his place. However, with the help of DRS, he delayed his braking and tried to take the inside at the first turn. When Sebastian Vettel sees his compatriot rushing towards him, it is too late, contact is inevitable. “ I didn't expect it, let's put it that way, analyze the driver Aston Martin after the race. Obviously it's a shame that we had contact and we're both out of the race, out of the points. »

The author of the maneuver at the first turn, who finished his race outside the points in 1th place, did not wish to comment on his responsibility in the incident at a press conference. “ Obviously, it's difficult to say and judge from inside the car. So, I have to wait and see what it looks like from the outside. But I'm sure it will also be good for me to see what Seb thinks about it. "This clash has not cast a chill on the relationship between Mick Schumacher and his German compatriot whom he still sees as his mentor in Formula 1. " It's good that I can learn from him, he's so valuable to me as a friend, so yeah, we'll see. »

0 points at the finish for Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel

For the first Miami Grand Prix in history, the balance sheet of the two Germans does not live up to the potential displayed in the race. Qualified in 13th position, Sebastian Vettel was forced to start from the pit lane behind Lance stroll due to a fuel temperature problem on his Aston Martin.

With 12 places gained in the race, he may have regrets. “ I think it could have been better. I had a bit of trouble at the start, it was very difficult to overtake and easy to get stuck. So I need to revisit some key moments from the race where I think I could have done better. » After missing the first two Grand Prix of the season due to Covid-19, Sebastian Vettel once again finished with a retirement after Australia, at the beginning of April. Mick Schumacher will have to wait a little longer before unlocking his points counter after almost a season and a half in Formula 1 at Haas
