Mika Häkkinen hopes for continued progress from Renault ahead of 2021

By signing his second podium of the year, the second in three races on the occasion of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix last weekend in Imola, Daniel Ricciardo has enabled Renault F1 Team to seize third place in the Manufacturers ranking behind the infernal duo Mercedes - Red Bull Racing.

A result which once again highlights the progress of car French, which now fights on equal terms with the Ferrari, McLaren or even Racing Point for this position at the end of the championship.

A progression curve that Mika Häkkine, double world champion 1998 – 1999, highlights in his latest column for Unibet.

“The problems of Max Verstappen (tire burst) benefited Daniel Ricciardo and for the second time in three races it was good to see the talented Australian on the podium, highlights the Finn.

Building momentum is so important in this sport, and we can see that Renault and Daniel have made very good progress this season, partly thanks to the arrival of my former McLaren colleague Pat Fry, who was my teammate David Coulthard's race engineer. »

Häkkinen also sees further and believes that the strong return of Renault in the top 3 of the F1 could benefit the discipline next year, since if Daniel Ricciardo leaves the Losange for McLaren, Fernando Alonso will reunite with the team with which he won twice in 2005 and 2006.

“Fernando Alonso will follow these results very closely because if we give him a car capable of getting on the podium, this will add a lot to the excitement at Formula 1 next season » believes the ex-McLaren driver.
