Monisha Kaltenborn not satisfied, but confident

Sauber's start to the season is not as expected. After a remarkable 2012 campaign (four podiums: in Malaysia, Canada, Italy for Sergio Pérez, and in Japan for Kamui Kobayashi), the Swiss team has never managed to repeat these performances since. We expected a jump in 2014 with the arrival of new regulations, but this was not the case. Neither Mexican Esteban Gutiérrez nor German Adrian Sutil have scored points this season. A situation that Monisha Kaltenborn, the team principal of the team, has difficulty accepting.

“I do not accept this position outside the top 10, she admits on the website of the F1. I don't see anything positive on the performance side. We must move forward. I am convinced that we will succeed. We are looking at different areas that we need to improve. In terms of the aerodynamics of the car, we can improve on the set-up and bring new elements to each race. On the powertrain side, our options are limited, but I'm sure something is already in motion. » she adds, referring to the engine developments expected at Ferrari.

“I am absolutely convinced that we will come back. It will take a little time. We are going in the right direction and, of course, I hope things will change this season. We had our chances in the last races, but we didn't take them. In Austria, we made a mistake during the pit stop which resulted in a penalty for our driver. This kind of thing shouldn't happen. We need to make sure we don't make mistakes when these opportunities present themselves. »

Monisha Kaltenborn also wanted to point out that the hierarchy between her drivers would be respected, with Giedo Van der Garde who would remain in his role as reserve driver.
