Promoters of the Monza circuit have extended their contract with FOM to continue hosting the Italian Grand Prix for the next three years.
Bernie Ecclestone, the director of the FOM, made the trip to Monza to certify the agreement with the promoters who had great difficulty obtaining this extension due to financial problems and competition with the Imola route.
“The contract was signed for three years, but I hope we come back to it for another century.”, commented Bernie Ecclestone during the press conference held in the Monza paddock.
Monza hosted the F1 every year since the creation of the World Championship in 1950, except in 1980 when the discipline moved to Imola.
