Monza EL2: Nico Rosberg’s turn

Si Lewis Hamilton had dominated head and shoulders the first free practice session at Monza in Italy, the 2008 World Champion experienced a problem with his car in the afternoon, the latter refusing to start. After long minutes in the pits, with a flat bottom falling under the W05 Hybrid, Hamilton finally took to the track in the last half hour. Enough for the Briton to set the second time, 61 thousandths behind his teammate Nico Rosberg, author of the best time in these EL2s in 1'26"225, with 41 laps covered, compared to only 16 for Hamilton.

The Ferrari by Räikkönen and Alonso were the closest of the two Silver Arrows with the Finn 3rd at 0″106 from Rosberg. Valtteri Bottas brings back Williams in the Top 5 ahead of McLaren by Jenson Button, the Red Bull de Sebastian Vettel. Magnussen (McLaren), Massa (Williams) and Ricciardo (Red Bull) complete the top 10.

Another difficult session for Lotus with Pastor Maldonado 18th and Romain Grosjean 20th, who went off the track twice in the Lesmo bends. Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso) takes 15th place, two places ahead of Jules Bianchi (Marussia).

The third practice session will take place tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. before qualifying at 14 p.m., all of which can be followed live and in full on AUTOhebdo.fr.
