The future of the Italian Grand Prix remains uncertain as the Monza circuit seeks to extend its contract with FOM to remain on the calendar. F1. While the circuit has hosted the discipline without interruption since 1950, the organizers are struggling to renew their contract.
Roberto Scanagatti, the mayor of Monza, remains optimistic about his city's chances of keeping one event on the calendar.
“The contract expires in 2016. We have been in negotiations for a long time.”, he commented in Gazzetta dell Sport. “But I am sure it will be renewed because F1 cannot imagine a world without Monte-Carlo, Silverstone and Monza which are historic circuits. I think we will find a solution. I can't see F1 without Monza and I'm sure we will get a result. »
