Mosley admits mistakes

A few weeks after his departure from the presidency of the International Automobile Federation, Max Mosley occasionally returns to certain points of his last mandate. In a series of interviews with the Daily Telegraph, he discusses the mistakes he may have made and which led to the departure of several manufacturers including BMW and Toyota.

Thus, he explains that he perhaps did not act as he should have in the negotiations with the teams to impose a budget cap. “ There may have been a big mistake on my part ", said Max Mosley. “ I should have met each CEO of the manufacturers concerned and explained to them what we were putting in place and why. »

Aged 69, the Briton thinks that his approach would have helped to retain these two manufacturers. “SIf I had done it, I think BMW would still be with us and it is possible that Toyota would also be present. It would have been easy to demonstrate that with the capping of budgets, they could have achieved the same thing while spending much less. »
