Mosley thinks he's close to consensus

Asked at the microphone of TF1, Max Mosley, boss of the FIA, thinks that the teams and the federation will be able to agree on a common solution: “ The discussions are positive and constructive. We are reaching our ceiling of 45 million euros. There are a lot of things that do not concern the performance of the cars in this budget, motor homes, marketing... We have to get there because, otherwise, we risk losing a lot of teams, who will not be able to spend as much money. ?money than this year. »

Max Mosley also thinks that a compromise can be found for 2010, and the budgetary ceiling of 45 million euros possibly postponed to 2011. " It is not excluded but it is not decided either. » Concerning the withdrawal of certain teams if the regulations do not suit them, the president of the FIA is not worried. He is more worried about teams in financial difficulties due to the crisis currently affecting the automobile sector. “ I think we won't lose Ferrari, they will still be there next year. On the other hand, I fear that many stables will leave us because of the crisis. We must therefore reach a ceiling otherwise the teams will not succeed. A large part of current budgets will not be included in the budget capping, which is therefore not as drastic as is often said. »

If no solution has yet been found, Max Mosley is not worried about a positive outcome of this end to the crisis. “ If the stables are reasonable, we will quickly reach common ground. »
