Newey: “A problem that came from Red Bull”

Red Bull Racing is preparing to experience a very intense week in Bahrain following the catastrophic tests in Jerez. If all the stables motorized by Renault Sport F1 (except Lotus F1 Team which was absent) encountered reliability problems with the 6l V1.6 turbo / hybrid of Viruses-Châtillon, the Milton Keynes team suffered the most with only 21 laps covered by Sebastian Vettel et Daniel Ricciardo.

Adrian Newey admitted to Daily Star that the RB10's very aerodynamic design was partly to blame for poor reliability. “The problem was with the part of the body towards the exhaust which caught fire. It was really due to a lack of time. We could have seen on the test bench if we were able to put everything together more quickly. But Renault was short on operating the bench and we lacked time to build the elements. We could have sorted everything out on the bench in private with two more weeks. In any case, it was a problem that came from Red Bull. »

Sebastian Vettel will get back behind the wheel of the RB10 tomorrow for the first two days of testing on the Sakhir circuit. Daniel Ricciardo will take over the following two days.
