Nick Chester: Williams, the goal of Lotus F1 Team

With an accident for Pastor Maldonado and a mechanical problem for Romain Grosjean from the first lap of the Australian GP, Lotus F1 Team could not show his potential. But the E23 clearly seems more efficient than its older sister and the team ofenstone intends to prove it during the next event on March 29 in Sepang, Malaysia.

The objectives have clearly been revised upwards this season since the car has been revised from its bases and that it is motorized by the Power Unit Mercedes, the most competitive on the board. “We are reasonably satisfied with the performance of the car”, confirmed Nick Chester, technical director of Lotus F1 Team. “We should be regular contenders for Q3, but we want to do more like reduce the gap on Williams and distance the group behind us. »

Lotus F1 Team missed its start to the season in particular due to a reliability problem which took the British team by surprise. “We had a problem with the air system charging which caused a leak. It happened to both cars on Friday (March 13). We tried to find a solution but it came back on Saturday (March 14) in Romain's car. We did more than 4000km during winter testing and this had never happened…”
