Nick Heidfeld wants to catch up with Massa

The former Sauber driver, author of a podium this season, managed to gain the upper hand over his teammate during the Turkish GP, where he placed 7th in the race. The changes made to the R31 at the Spanish GP should allow it to protect its position in the general classification but the competition remains tough.

« The season requires effort from each member of the team », confirms Nick Heidfeld. “ I have to concentrate on making the most of all situations but I think it is still too early to talk about the final ranking in the Championship. Nico (Rosberg) is only one point behind me now and Mercedes has improved a lot during these last two races. »

Nevertheless, the Lotus driver-Renault remains optimistic about his chances of success within the British team. “ However, we scored as many points as (Mercedes GP) in Turkey and so we can stay ahead of them. The pilots Ferrari are not far away. Felipe (Massa) finished behind me in several races and he doesn't have much of a lead in the Championship. My immediate objective is to try to beat him in the Championship. »
