Nico Hülkenberg, from F1 to electric scooter

Nico Hülkenberg moves from the F1 paddocks to those of the electric scooter. It might make him very funny @Photo DPPI

Among the F1 and the electric scooter, there’s only one step! Or rather than one or even two wheels. In any case, this is what tends to show us Nico Hulkenberg recently, still on track in Bahrain and Jeddah a few weeks ago with Aston Martin, who is preparing to take on the electric scooter world championship, as the owner of a brand new team, 27X by Nico Hulkenberg.

27X or X44, there is electricity in the air

Although he does not participate in the competition himself, Nico Hülkenberg launches into the (successful?) scooter business. Please note, we are not talking here about unwanted riders in the city of Paris, who storm the sidewalks and parking spaces to park anywhere. No no. We are talking more about a championship in six rounds, which take place in six metropolises in Europe (including Marseille) and the United States, and where top speeds can reach 100 km/h. Impressive, no?

The main person concerned is described as “a huge fan of what the series stands for” in the official eSC press release. And while the first season of this championship is finally launched, the Hülkenberg team – whose driver names have not yet been released – should make its appearance during the third round, in London, on May 13 and 14. next. In particular, he should cross paths with a certain Anthony Joshua, a famous British boxer, who has also recently embarked on the adventure. A choice that fits him like a glove, it must be said…

“I'm excited to dive into a whole new role as a 27X team owner and be part of this new micromobility adventure, explains the German. It will certainly be more than a typical racing series and I am sure we have a very entertaining sport in the making, with experienced motorsport experts behind it. »

The links between F1, or more generally motorsport, and eSC are becoming more and more important. We can notably find in the organization chart of the championship, a certain Lucas di Grassi, driver of Formula E since the launch of the series, in an ambassadorial role. But also Alex Wurz, ex-F1 driver who was on a podium three times and above all a double winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Even more disturbing, a subsidiary of Williams (Williams Advanced Engineering) is the exclusive manufacturer and supplier of high performance batteries for the championship.

When we tell you that between F1 and the electric scooter, there is only one step. We weren't kidding!
