Nico Hülkenberg: “Racing should be fun”

If we won't see Nico Hulkenberg on the starting grid F1 2020, the German, passed through Renault F1 Team in recent years, hopes to see the discipline return to a more constant spectacle in the future.

For the ex-pilot Williams, the measures taken by Liberty Media, namely future technical regulations (now in 2022) and budget capping, which will be lowered by Liberty Media from 161 to 134 million euros from 2021, are going in the right direction.

« This is a very good step to bring everyone closer together in the future, observes Hülkenberg interviewed by CNN on the budget ceiling. I think that once this is implemented, the result will not be immediate, because the best teams will always have an advantage that they will maintain for a while.

Racing is racing, but it’s also fun and races should be really fun. We had incredible races like Hockenheim last year.

We just need good races that are fun to watch all the time, lots of door-to-door action. Then I think naturally the sport will become more attractive because people like to watch it. »

Nico Hülkenberg was replaced by Esteban Ocon at Renault for 2020, and has given no clue as to his future this year in motorsport.
