Nico Rosberg at home in Hockenheim

Nico Rosberg dominated the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim by taking advantage of his rival's misfortunes Lewis Hamilton condemned to 20th position on the grid. Despite the intervention of the safety car on the first lap following Felipe Massa's rollover hit by Kevin Magnussen in the first corner, the German remained out of reach of the competition and won the seventh victory of his career by regaining a 14-point lead over his rival Lewis Hamilton who managed to move up to third place. The 2008 world champion was hopeful of offering a new double to Mercedes F1More Valtteri Bottas effectively protected his second place which allowed him to celebrate his third podium in a row and place Williams Racing in front of the Team Ferrari five points ahead.

Sebastian Vettel finished at the foot of the podium, ahead of Fernando Alonso. The two world champions engaged in a new duel which once again turned to the advantage of the driver Red Bull who took advantage of a bad strategy from the Maranello team which left its driver on the track for too long. Daniel Ricciardo follows in sixth place after having delivered a nice battle against the Asturian in the last laps. The Australian fell to the bottom of the standings from the start after having to go off the track to avoid the Brazilian's Williams which was on the roof. Nico Hulkenberg follows in seventh place ahead of McLaren by Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen. The Dane recovered well after spinning following contact on the first lap.

Sergio Pérez completes the top ten ahead of Kimi Räikkönen and Pastor Maldonado. Jean-Éric Vergne ranks 13th after receiving a five-second penalty for overtaking his compatriot Romain Grosjean outside the limits of the track. The Lotus driver retired due to a mechanical problem. Jules Bianchi finished in 15th place between Esteban Gutiérrez and Kamui Kobayashi. Daniil Kvyat dismounted after a fire broke out on his Toro Rosso while he was in the points.
