Nico Rosberg retains his pole

Nico Rosberg will start on pole for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Hungaroring commissioners considered that the pilot Mercedes had respected the double yellow flag during Q3 following the spin of Fernando Alonso (McLaren), on the grounds that “telemetry showed that the driver had significantly reduced his speed in turn 8”.

If the investigation was launched more than three hours after the end of qualifying, this pole position for the Mercedes driver created controversy.

Nico Rosberg claimed to have slowed down in the section under yellow flag, but the German still managed to set the best time in the sector. The Championship leader was more than a tenth ahead of his teammate and direct opponent Lewis Hamilton.
