Qualifying for the first European Grand Prix of the season finally smiled on Nico Rosberg. Sovereign in this exercise in 2014, with eleven poles to his credit, the German was forced to lose in each session in 2015 against his teammate and rival at Mercedes. Enough to put a smile back on the former pilot’s face Williams who remained on a complicated qualification in Bahrain, where he had been beaten by Hamilton but above all by Ferrari de Sebastian Vettel.
“I needed this sooner or later, but it's just a small step in the right direction to win the race this weekend, specifies the vice-world champion. Overtaking is more difficult on this track, so starting from the front is a big advantage here. »
Since the start of the weekend, Rosberg has only let Lewis Hamilton get ahead of him during the second session of free practice and during Q1, winning all the other sessions.
The Spanish Grand Prix will start tomorrow at 14 p.m. and can be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr
