Nico Rosberg far from claiming victory after Jerez

The pilots Mercedes were the most active at Jerez since the W05 completed 309 laps, including 188 completed by Nico Rosberg who was the most diligent of the week. The German was even able to complete a 74-lap race simulation on the final day with two pit stops, after working in all the conditions offered by the changing weather. If the first week of testing is positive for the Brackley team, which notably sees Red Bull Racing in difficulty with its V6 Renault, the pilot of the Silver Arrows knows that nothing is over yet.

“It’s a challenge, a new page being turned. It's very complicated ", comments Nico Rosberg. “There was a lot of rolling when I was behind the wheel on the second day, but it was a real fight behind the wheel. The tires didn't want to warm up and we were very slow, at GP2 level, and we had to adjust everything. Only work will take us further. I'm expecting a really exciting season with all these new elements. It will become a science to overtake and save fuel to get to the checkered flag. »

If drivers have been used to managing their level of attack in races for several seasons, largely to conserve their tires, they will now have to get used to monitoring their fuel gauge even more frequently since the new regulations will further limit the level of gasoline on board. “A driver always wants to push hard, but I find it also a challenge to make the most of this new situation. We haven't attacked at 100% in recent years, the last season where that was the case must have been 2006. So we are quite trained to pay attention to different things. I think what we have is a sign of where the world is headed. We all need to be considerate. »
