Nigel Stepney killed in road accident

Nigel Stepney was killed in a road accident this morning in Kent (Great Britain). His disappearance mourns the world of F1 and motorsport in general, the Briton having had a busy career. Nigel Stepney has notably worked at Lotus and Benetton but it is with the Team that he experienced his greatest success. However, the engineer had to leave the discipline in 2007 after having been at the origin of "Spygate" between McLaren and Ferrari.

But Nigel Stepney has not abandoned the world of motorsport since he joined the JRM structure in 2010 as director of engineering. The Briton then worked with Nismo on the GT-R GT1 which was entered in FIA GT1 and more recently on the GT3 version which participated in Blancpain Endurance Series. “He has been an important member of the team and brought unrivaled engineering experience upon his arrival”, comments James Rumpsey, the owner of JRM. “This man was Ayrton Senna's engineer at Lotus and he was invaluable in guiding Michael Schumacher towards his five titles won with Ferrari. He was the perfect candidate to ensure that JRM became a serious team. The role he played there will never be underestimated or forgotten. »
