Niki Lauda makes his voice heard

For the non-executive chairman of Mercedes, things are very clear: it is impossible to go back on the new turbo/hybrid engines, despite the sound considered negative by some, including Bernie Ecclestone. “The debate over engine noise is absurd. We can't change that now. The decision to have turbo engines was made unanimously five years ago, so we put a turbocharger in front of the exhaust. Even a child knows that the sound is different, the former three-time world champion (1975-1977-1984) told the Austrian newspaper Österreich. If you remove the turbo, it's no longer a hybrid engine you have. You'll have to get used to it.

A position which joins those of Eric Boullier, director of the competition of Mclaren racing, or Claire Williams, Deputy Team Principal of Williams Martini Racing, who had defended the new V6 turbo/hybrid Power Units.
