Niki Lauda apologizes to Scuderia Ferrari

Niki Lauda has apologized for his derogatory remarks towards Scuderia Ferrari made last week. The three-time world champion, who won two crowns with the Maranello in 1975 and 1977, said that the Italian structure was better at making spaghetti than at designing cars capable of catching up with the Mercedes W06 Hybrid.

« Italians know that Ferrari will always hold first place in my heart », underlined the non-executive vice-president of Mercedes F1 in View. “I knew everything at Ferrari: I won 15 victories there, two of my three titles (the last was won in 1984 with McLaren) and certain tragedies. We cannot experience more emotions. I will always respect this brand. »

Niki Lauda returned to his annoyance which preceded his comment. “We had one of the best races in F1 (at the British GP on July 5) and we still talk about how boring it was. It is not fair. Everyone in F1 would be happy if Ferrari could close the gap on us”, said the Austrian.
