There will only be 19 drivers lined up for the start of the most anticipated Grand Prix of the decade this afternoon in Abu Dhabi.

Nikita mazepin will indeed be missing following a positive screening for Covid-19. The Russian has therefore placed himself in isolation and will not be able to compete at Yas Marina.

His stable Haas specifies that the 22-year-old young man does not feel any symptoms and is physically well. All contact cases have been declared. His teammate Mick Schumacher will be able to hold his position.

Under Article 31.1 of the sporting regulations, Mazepin cannot be replaced by Haas reserve player Pietro Fittipaldi. The Brazilian would have had to participate in qualifying to be eligible, as was the case with Nico Hulkenberg at the Nürburgring (Germany) last year when Lance stroll had to withdraw at the last minute from Racing Point.

Haas wishes Mazepin a speedy recovery and has arranged to see him on track in early 2022 for the Barcelona winter tests scheduled for February 23-25.
