Nobuharu Matsushita becomes development driver at McLaren

Nobuharu Matsushita was chosen by McLaren-Honda as development driver. The 22-year-old Japanese will therefore have a double program since he will work on the British team's simulator in addition to his commitment in the GP2 Series with ART Grand Prix.

The Japanese driver highlighted himself by winning the Formula Challenge Japan in 2012 and the F3 Japanese in 2014 before competing in his first season in GP2 where he took ninth place in the Championship with Frédéric Vasseur's team.

“It’s a childhood dream to access the F1 and it’s a big step in my career”, commented Nobuharu Matsushita. “My last season in GP2 allowed me to learn many things. It was my first year in Europe, but my experience with Honda's young rider program prepared me well. »

Nobuharu Matsushita has clear goals for 2016. “As a GP2 driver, my main objective will be to win the title. I think I have everything I need around me to become an F1 driver”, insisted the Asian.
